It's hard to believe this bottle was only $7.99 at Costco. This is an excellent Spanish Tempranillo at an unbeatable price.
Dark, earthy fruit and spice on the nose; loads of dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, anise, tar, with an extra dry, herbal noted finish. This wine pours dark into the glass and certainly has plenty of heft about it.
A fantastic buy at Costco, I think this wine drinks like something you'd expect to pay $20-$25 for. Highly recommended, and a nice addition to our Top Picks list.

Your glowing remarks piqued my interest, and I dropped by one of the Costcos here in Mpls-St. Paul today. It's so unpredictable as to where and when various wines will appear at different Costcos, but I was in luck today, and nabbed a couple of bottles. Looking forward to trying it-- and many thanks for your enjoyable and useful blog!

I did! Opened it last night. I'd say it's very New World in style-- fresh and fruity. Right next to it at my Costco was the Kirkland Rioja, which for some reason I didn't grab, although it was also $7.99...I thought I'd come back for a bottle later. That night, literally AS I WAS PUTTING THE Mano a Mano in the cupboard, an excited text pinged in from a friend who was drinking that very Rioja and telling me to run to Costco and buy a case! I hope you'll review it pronto.

I walked right by this one and neglected to pick it up. If memory serves me it was the name or the label that made me question how serious it might be. Now I'll definitely give it a try.

This wine is $8.99 at Costco in Cincinnati. I picked up a bottle on this recommendation and concur with the review. The first small taste revealed a tannic, closed character so I poured another aliquot through a Respirer aerator. This helped a lot. Thus encouraged, I went ahead and just poured the remainder into a decanter and let it aerate for a half hour. This helped tremendously! In addition to your tasting notes, my wife and I also noted some blueberry syrup and lemon zest notes in the taste profile. The wine is a superb value...I actually picked up a case to cellar. The tannin profile indicates it should do fine for another few years at least. Thanks for the find!
