2010 Domaine du Grand Coulet Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Domaine du Grand Coulet Chateauneuf-du-Pape

This wine was a big disappointment for me.  I'm a huge Chateauneuf fan and always look forward to cracking these open, but this wine was not up to par.  I would advise readers to steer clear of this bottle.

I reviewed the 2009 vintage of the same wine and did not particularly enjoy it at that time either.  This year they brought the price down to $21.99 ($5 cheaper) but the quality followed suit. There's just something that's not quite right, and given my mediocre (at best) reviews from last year, I'm convinced this is a dud, not a bad bottle.

The flavors never come around, and I gave it plenty of time.  You wait and wait to taste something and then it just hits a brick wall and dies.  There's not a lot going on here.  It doesn't taste like a Chateauneuf and it barely resembles your lowest end Rhone bottles.
