2014 Domaine Vincent Delaporte a Chavignol Sancerre

2014 Domaine Vincent Delaporte a Chavignol Sancerre

This is a lovely expression of Sauvignon Blanc from France’s Loire Valley.  The wine is clean, crisp and bright, bursting with citrus fruit flavor, a little acidic bite and a lasting finish.  When you find Sancerre priced like this ($19.99) you might want to scoop it up.  I’ll likely be making a return trip to have a few more on hand for summer.

The wine pours a light, straw yellow; floral, perfume, lemon zest on the nose.  In the mouth, it’s light, refreshing, bright acidity with pineapple, lemon, wheatgrass and more pineapple and citrus flavors.  The finish is strong, lasting and decisive.

Great wine at this price, and a perfect summer treat.  You can enjoy this one with almost any light summer fare, and next time I mow the lawn and I’m craving a Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, I might be equally refreshed with this Sancerre.

Anyway, great buy here at Costco. This is why you shop for wine at Costco, to find world class wines at great prices.  And here’s a case in point.

Thanks you creating this Costco wine blog--I rely on you! Tried this year's version of Kirkland Classic Reserva Chianti,2 bucks more than the 2011 of last year. The new 2012 was not the robust fruity fullness of of 2011 on 1st bottle. Pulled up a stored 2011 and sorry to say first impressions were only reinforced.
