2013 Ca’ Momi Rosso di Napa

2013 Ca’ Momi Rosso di Napa

2013 Ca' Momi Rosso di Napa Napa Valley Red Wine Just as I was leaving the wine aisle, this bottle for $7.99 caught my eye.  In passing I mistook this for an Italian wine, so the irony of seeing Napa Valley listed on the label through me for a loop.  I was already buying five bottles, all of which were priced more than this one, so why not make it a 6-pack?

And I’m pretty happy that I did.  This is an interesting little Napa red blend with a taste that is unheard of at this price.  There is actually decent flavor here: dark fruit, cherry, chocolate, espresso.  The body is light and rather deceiving at first.  The wine finishes up pretty quickly, but all in all this is not a bad package for $8.  It would be great with a range of food or fine on its own.

Many of the Napa (if you can find them), or other California red blends, in this price range are pretty bland and taste like powered sugar water.  This one I’m happy to report is a little bit different, and in my opinion, worth $8 all day long.  The blend I believe is Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot and Petite Sirah (I’m not sure of the percentages)

Looked for this at my Costco in Atlanta but no luck. We are always looking for everyday wines with normal meals at home that won't break the bank.

We have had good luck with Res Splash as a good Cali red blend over the last few years.

Looking forward to giving this a try.

Keep an eye out and hopefully you'll bump into it. I'll have to try the Res Splash if I find it. I don't believe I've had it before. Thanks for the note.

I had that experience with a Bogle red blend. I love Bogle's old vine zinfandel and was incredulous at the sweet stuff being sold as a Bogle red blend at Costco.

That experience completely stopped me from buying another red blend no matter the label.

THANK YOU for being braver than I, and for this recommendation.

Now to see if I can find it my Costco (Washington DC).

Thanks for the comment. I really did find this one to be a bit different and was surprised when I went back and looked at the receipt to see how much I had paid. Let me know if you find it and if you agree with me on this one.
