2007 Perrin & Fils Vinsobres Les Cornuds Cotes du Rhone

A really well assembled Cotes du Rhone and I'm a big fan; Nose is earthy, peppery; on the palate it's packed with dark fruit, blackberry, a little licorice; medium in body; finish is not as spicy as you might expect, it's clean and lingering.

The wine is 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache.  Great combo, nice grapes from a (relatively new) and somewhat still lesser known Rhone appellation.

Certainly more than I would expect from a bottle that was $15.79 at my Costco. If you like Rhones, this is the best $15 you've spent in a while.  Definitely worth the small jump from the Perrin & Fils Villages.

I have discovered the Rhone wines over the last few years, and have to say they are outstanding! Note up front: these are not New World California Cabs. I feel like there is a lot more depth, complexity, and nuance...but that may not be everyones cup of tea.

2007 was a great year for the Rhone, and this offering showcased the best value in Old World wine making. Have i had better Rhone wines for more $$, of course. but for 15.79, this is a steal! My costco had four cases: two 2007 and two 2008. i sampled one bottle of the '07, and when i went back a few days later, only one case of the '07 was left...sorry, but i bought all of the 2007 that was left!
