2009 Perrin & Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages

A nice little Rhone red that can be scored for only $9.99 at Costco. This blend of 50/50 Syrah and Grenache is exactly what I like in these inexpensive Rhone wines - offering nice dark fruit flavor, good body to stand up to almost any food pairing, and a dose of spice to make things a little more interesting.

The wine was noticeably young on the pour, but balanced out a bit with some air.  A good wine for the money all around.

This is part of a series we are doing on some of the Rhone wines mentioned in this month's Costco Connection.  Next up is the Perrin & Fils Cotes Du Rhone Vinsobres, which is $5 more than the "Villages."  I'll be curious to see how it stacks up (and it's a 2007 so will be tad more mature).
