2009 Dona Paula Estate Malbec Mendoza

I'm always going to buy the latest vintage of these Malbecs from Dona Paula because they have consistently been great wines for the money, and this 2009 falls right in line.

Priced at $11.99, this is a very nice wine, medium in body but full of plum and dark fruit flavors; it has that distinct earthiness you get from these Mendoza wines, and a crisp little spicy touch to the finish.  A solid offering all around, and an excellent buy at Costco for this price.

I'm going to rate this wine a little higher than the recently tasted 1919 Malbec, which is also a nice value but I think it's worth spending a few extra bucks to pick up this one from Dona Paula.

Jealous! You get a lot of Malbecs at your Costco. Up here in MN the last few months all we get is a Malbec/Merlot mix (that was actually pretty tasty) and a so-so Padrillos Malbec.

Actually, I saw this Malbec for $10.99 at the St. Louis Park Costco. Everywhere else in the Twin Cities has it for $17+. I highly recommend this wine, especially at this price.

I'll have to see if I can get up to the St. Louis Park store...Burnsville and Eden Prairie are the closest ones to us, but no alcohol at the E.P. store. Thanks!

This is a spectacular Malbec for the price point and for the consistency in body, color and taste. Fantastic buy. I bought out a case to reserve for the next few years.
