2008 Catena Malbec Mendoza
| This Mendoza Malbec is packed with ripe dark fruit flavors, earthiness and spice, with everything coming together nicely to make for a smooth and easy drinking red. The wine is blended from four of the Catena family's high altitude vineyards, and certainly tastes like an upper end Malbec, with more complexity on the mid palate and finish than others in this price range. This is one of those wines that Costco offers for 10-20% less than other places (it was $18.99 at my Costco, and I've seen it elsewhere for $20+) so it is a good value, particularly if you fall into the Malbec lovers camp (which I do). The wine got better and better the more I dug into it, and it deserves a spot on the Bronze Rated wine list. CostcoWineBlog.com Rating: 89 Points |
