2003 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

A beautiful wine that's at a great age right now.  Not cheap at Costco for $60, but I found it to offer enough depth and complexity to more than justify the price.

Starts with a spicy nose that doesn't hold anything back.  And then it just bursts into your mouth, with nice red fruit (cherry, strawberry) and plum flavors hitting your taste buds from every direction.  It's a big wine that hits hard and often, but that's what makes it such a winner.  It takes a while to figure out, and it changes as it sits in the glass - as a good wine will - but it's well worth the ride.

I really enjoyed this one, and will place it in my Gold Rated wine list.  I will not soon forget my experience with this bottle, and there's something to be said for that.

Thanks for the note.  We're independent of Costco so can only help point you in the right direction.  But check out this new resource Costco launched online that lets you see what's in the warehouse of Costcos near you (or around the country if you want).  Wine is one of the items they list: http://www.costco.com/InTheWarehouse/Locator.aspx
