2008 Kirkland Signature Chateauneuf-du-Pape

There are few regions in the wine world where you can consistently say that you almost can't go wrong, but Chateauneuf-du-Pape is one of those for me.  Granted they generally start at $30 plus, this bottle at Costco for $19.99 is a score.

I just enjoyed this one with a grilled steak, which is what a huge wine like this is built for.  Comprised of 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 10% Vaccares-Muscardin-Cinsault, this wine is big on fruit, huge flavor in the mouth that permeates the taste buds, and has the signature dry Rhone finish.  I love it, as I do most bottles from this region, and $20 at Costco is a great price for this wine.

Definitely seek it out, pair it with the right food, and enjoy.  I'll add this bottle to my Silver Rated wine list  since it is so well executed for the price.

Thank you thank you thank you for this wonderful blog. Rather than having to buy one and taste my way around Costco I now have pointers to the best and the brightest. :D

I am curious if you have tried the 2009 Kirkland CdP yet? If so is there a reviewcoming any time soon? I saw it but at $20 a bottle I have to be relatively certain before I splurge...
