2010 Kirkland Signature Chateauneuf-du-pape
|The Kirkland Chateauneuf is typically one of the most popular reviews we write each year. I’ve already heard from a few readers who have snagged this year’s bottle and the early reviews seemed to indicate a winner. I would have to agree wholeheartedly.|
The 2009 Chateauneuf from Kirkland was a great wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. How does the 2010 stack up? Well for me, about the same with some slightly different nuances.
The 2010 seems to be a little less on the spicy side and more on the earthy side. The aromas and palate hit of flavor really come through strong; those signature Rhone characteristics are more clear in this wine than its prior vintages. It’s drinking good for a wine so young and will only get better with some age.
I am again going to put this wine on our Silver Rated wine list, and at $19.99 it remains the best Chateauneuf I think you will find for the money.
