2006 Santa Rita Reserva Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
You really should print this review, stuff it in your pocket and next time you’re at Costco buy a bottle or two of this wine. I found it for $8 and it is outstanding. Nothing like you would expect for under $10 a bottle.
This is a very nice Cabernet from Chile’s Maipo Valley that, seriously no joke, could pass for a $20 bottle. It’s that good. Pleasant aromas all around, nice balance, spicy on the nose which carries throughout the wine, adding a nice complexity. Does it sounds like I’m describing a value bottle?
I discovered a handful of decent value Cabs this year, but this is a standout. This could quite possibly be the best value Cabernet I had this year. So I’m going to give it huge bonus points for value, and that will knock it into my Bronze picks. Seek this one out.
CostcoWineBlog.com Rating: 89 Points (2 bonus points for outrageous value)
