2006 J. Lohr Seven Oaks Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
This is definitely going to make the Value Pick list. I found it at Costco for $10 (and have seen it elsewhere for slightly more) but for California Cabs in this price range, this is among the better bottles I’ve had recently. It has a little of that Paso Cab bite, but all in all, it’s a rather smooth, full of flavor, big enjoyable Cab.
I’ve had this bottle a handful of times before, and remember always having a similar takeaway. And it again keeps my interest in Paso as a fun region to explore.
I probably liked the Aquinas and the Avalon budget Cabs (that I reviewed for BlogRoom.com) a touch better for the money, but the fact that this brings up those fantastic value bottles, indicates it’s not too far behind in my book. I’d buy this one if you see it for around $10.
