2005 Antucura Calvulcura
|This is a nice red blend from Mendoza. It consists of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Malbec. Price at Costco was $14.99 and I really enjoyed it at that price.|
Definitely a blend from the get go, it kicks of that Bordeaux flavor from the nose, but hits big on the palate and the finish. Nice cherry flavors with a strong spicy finish.
I enjoyed this wine with grilled filet mignon and it bolstered the meal perfectly. This is a very nice wine for certain occasions, such as grilled steak. It’s big and heavy which goes with its roots, and I would prefer to drink this one during the colder months. But it seems to just now be hitting Costco stores (I’ve seen it at the three stores by me), so check it out.
It’ll earn a Bronze Rating.
